
A train malfunction occurred on Thursday afternoon on the Lisbon Metropolitan’s Blue Line.
On social media platform X, an update revealed that “due to a train malfunction, service is interrupted.”
The alert was issued at 6:14 PM, indicating the train recovery time might exceed “15 minutes.” Fifteen minutes later, at 6:33 PM, Lisbon Metropolitan posted again, stating, “Currently, it is not possible to predict the duration of the interruption, which may be prolonged.”

An official from the Lisbon Metropolitan told the Lusa news agency that service is halted along the entire Blue Line.
The representative noted, “Given the nature of the malfunction, predicting the duration of this interruption is challenging,” adding that if prolonged, some segments of the line might resume operation to minimize impacts.
As of 6:53 PM, Lisbon Metro commented again on X, stating that “there are disruptions in service” and “waiting times may exceed normal.”

The Lisbon Metro operates four lines daily: Yellow (Rato-Odivelas), Green (Telheiras-Cais do Sodré), Blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolónia), and Red (Aeroporto-São Sebastião).
