The Lisbon Underground’s Yellow line and the stations of Telheiras and Campo Grande, on the Green line, will close on Friday at 9:00 pm, for the conclusion of the network expansion works, announced the company.
“To allow for the integration of the work done into the network in operation, the entire Yellow line and Telheiras and Campo Grande stations on the Green line will have to be closed as of 9:00 p.m. (departure time for the last train from each terminal station) on July 7,” says Metropolitano de Lisboa in a statement.
On Saturday, the Telheiras station (Green line) will be reopened and, on the Yellow line, it will once again be possible to circulate between the Campo Grande and Cidade Universitária stations.
The circulation on the Yellow line between Odivelas and Rato will go back to six-car trains, while on the Green line the circulation of six-car trains was restored on June 12.
Scheduled to be inaugurated in 2024, the new circular line, which will connect the Rato station to Cais do Sodré, in an extension of two kilometers of network, will create a circular ring in the center of Lisbon, and interfaces that combine and integrate various modes of transport.
The Lisbon Underground operates daily with four lines: Yellow (Rato-Odivelas), Green (Telheiras-Cais do Sodré), Blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolónia), and Red (Airport-São Sebastião).
Normally, the subway runs between 06:30 and 01:00.
