The Spanish stock market was closely monitoring the threat made on Wednesday by Trump to Madrid, stating that the country would “pay double” in tariffs due to its refusal to invest 5% of GDP in defense, as agreed by NATO.

Trump asserted he would negotiate a trade deal “directly” with Madrid and enforce “double” payment to address this issue.
