All 15 companies listed in the PSI index saw their shares depreciate in this session, as markets respond negatively to tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump and subsequent retaliations.
Leading the declines was Galp Energia, which fell by 8.96% to 13.11 euros, followed by EDP, down 8.08% to 2.90 euros, and Mota-Engil, which depreciated by 6.78% to 2.92 euros.
EDP Renováveis slid 6.52% to 6.89 euros, while retailer Jerónimo Martins gave up 6.30% to 19.70 euros, and CTT’s shares dropped 6.13% to 6.74 euros.
In a session where all stocks fell by more than 1%, notable losses also included Sonae, with shares down 3.65% to 1.00 euro; BCP, which dropped 2.88% to 0.48 euros; and Navigator, which declined by 2.80% to 3.12 euros.
Across Europe, the day was also marked by significant losses, with Madrid’s market plummeting by 5.12%, Paris falling by 4.78%, London retreating by 4.38%, and Frankfurt dropping by 4.26%.
The market has been impacted by the implementation of tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump on America’s trading partners and the retaliatory measures announced by China, which may be followed by actions from other large economies, such as the European Union.
The U.S. President announced reciprocal tariffs on the country’s trading partners on April 2, but expressed willingness to negotiate if the offers are “phenomenal.”
