Lisbon stock exchange on the rise: Ibersol up 1.67% and NOS down 2.67%

Around 09:35 in Lisbon, the PSI followed the opening trend, advancing 0.20% to 7,686.75 points, with nine stocks rising, five falling, and one remaining stable (Sonae at 1.27 euros).

Following Ibersol, shares of EDP Renováveis, BCP, and REN rose, up 0.98% to 10.27 euros, 0.78% to 0.67 euros, and 0.32% to 3.18 euros, respectively.

More moderately, shares of EDP, Altri, and Mota-Engil appreciated by 0.31% to 3.82 euros, 0.21% to 4.80 euros, and 0.10% to 4.19 euros.

Navigator and Galp shares also increased, both by 0.06% to 3.22 euros and to 16.15 euros.

Conversely, alongside NOS shares, CTT, Jerónimo Martins, and Semapa shares saw declines, specifically 0.92% to 7.50 euros, 0.64% to 21.78 euros, and 0.47% to 17.06 euros.

Corticeira Amorim shares fell 0.26% to 7.56 euros.

Markets remain attentive to the second-quarter corporate results and the trade negotiations ahead of the looming August 1 deadline.

Investors eagerly await this week’s ECB monetary policy meeting, expected to maintain rates, with attention on possible hints from President Christine Lagarde about future steps.

Markets will also watch the release of preliminary PMI estimates, offering a glimpse of activity in the manufacturing and services sectors, which may be affected by U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of a 30% tariff on Eurozone imports to the U.S., although the impact is expected to be limited.

The Brent crude oil benchmark in Europe, for September delivery, is retreating to $68.83, compared to $69.21 on Monday.

Troy ounce gold, a safe-haven asset, depreciated to $3,383.87, compared to $3,395.69 on Monday, while the current all-time high was $3,432.34 on June 13.

The euro fell to $1.1687 in Frankfurt’s foreign exchange market, against $1.1700 on Monday and a new high since September 15, 2021, of $1.1789 on July 2.
