Lisbon stock market closes in ‘red’ with Corticeira Amorim losing 2.57%

Lisbon’s stock exchange closed in the red today, with Corticeira Amorim and companies related to the pulp and paper sector leading the losses, while BCP helped prevent a steeper decline.

Out of the 15 listed companies that make up the PSI index, three ended the day in positive territory, Sonae SGPS remained unchanged, and the remaining 11 were in the red. The national benchmark index fell by 0.28% to 7,674.13 points.

Corticeira Amorim led the losses, with its shares dropping 2.57% to 7.57 euros, followed by two companies linked to the pulp and paper sector.

Navigator declined by 1.71% to 3.22 euros, while Altri fell by 1.64% to 4.81 euros. Ibersol also experienced a loss of more than 1%, decreasing by 1.42% to 9.72 euros.

Among the heavyweights of the PSI, EDP fell by 1.21% to 3.75 euros, while its subsidiary EDP Renováveis decreased by 0.69% to 10.01 euros.

Galp, the oil company, depreciated by 0.06% to 15.85 euros, and Jerónimo Martins fell by 0.09% to 22.26 euros.

In contrast, BCP played a key role in mitigating steeper declines, with its shares increasing by 1.36% to 67 cents per share.

Across Europe, the UK’s FTSE 100 rose by 0.22%, France’s CAC-40 edged up by 0.01%, while Germany’s DAX lost 0.33%, and Spain’s IBEX-35 decreased by 0.04%.
