A 37-year-old man was arrested on the night of July 27 after assaulting an on-duty security guard at a commercial establishment from which he attempted to steal around 46 euros worth of items in the Frielas parish, Loures.
“The suspect crossed the checkout lines of a commercial establishment without paying for various items in his possession, valued at 45.93 euros,” stated the Public Security Police (PSP) in a statement sent to newsrooms on Wednesday.
When approached by the security guard, the man “became aggressive” and assaulted him to escape. However, he was stopped by other employees, “who held him at the scene until police arrived,” the report added.
The aggressor was attended to by the Volunteer Firefighters of Bucelas, who transported him to Beatriz Ângelo Hospital.
The man was then placed in the detention cells of the PSP in Lisbon to “ensure his presence at the Judicial Court of the District of Lisbon North – Loures,” and was remanded in custody.
This operation was conducted by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP, through the Loures Police Division.
