In an interview, Rose Barroso, 56, stated she decided to publish the book to share her personal and professional journey.
“Every day I told myself that this was not going to last forever,” she said, recalling the time when she lived in a room with a bathroom in her 20s.
Born in Porto with family ties to Maia and Modivas, Rose Barroso moved to Canada at the age of 2, returning temporarily to Portugal due to her mother’s economic difficulties.
She lived with her grandparents until she was 10, then returned to Canada, a period featuring episodes described in her work.
The businesswoman noted that the writing process required her to revisit memories she had tried to distance herself from.
“I stopped for a year to decide whether I wanted to continue,” she said, adding that her husband’s support was crucial to completing the work.
Rose Barroso leads three companies: a construction firm, established 25 years ago; a property maintenance company, 16 years old; and a real estate agency around eight years old.
She only indicated that the combined value exceeds 15 million Canadian dollars, stating she avoids disclosing numbers as it could influence public perception of her work.
The Luso-Canadian reported receiving reactions from women in the construction and real estate sectors who identify with her journey.
“If I can inspire someone in their 20s, 30s, or 40s, that is enough for me,” she said.
Regarding the Luso-Canadian community, she emphasized maintaining ties to Portuguese culture, and her children speak Portuguese.
“I hope the book is well received and understood as part of our presence in Canada,” she concluded.
“Indestructible: Transforming Survival into Success” will be officially launched on January 20, 2026, but is already available for sale.
