A road inspection operation on Alameda Dom Afonso Henriques in Lisbon led to the arrest of two individuals traveling in the same vehicle: a man for possession of narcotics and a woman for illegal immigration.
In a statement released on Friday, the Public Security Police (PSP) explained that during the inspection, “it was possible to observe a driver who was quite agitated and nervous.”
When questioned by the officers if he had “anything illegal in his possession,” the suspect confirmed and handed over a bag containing several tablets suspected to be ecstasy, two bags of a substance suspected to be cocaine, and two bottles of a substance suspected to be GHB.
“Upon analysis, it was confirmed to be narcotics, with eight doses of cocaine and 185 doses of ecstasy seized,” the report stated.
The suspect was arrested and notified to appear in the Local Criminal Court of Lisbon – Small Crime Section, at Campos de Justiça.
In the same car, in the passenger seat, “was a foreign woman who did not have any identification documents.”
According to the PSP, the woman was “taken to a police station to ascertain her identity and verify the legality of her status in Portugal” after “all other means to identify her were exhausted.”
It was then determined that the woman did not have “any document proving the legality of her status” and that she arrived in Portugal in 2023, via Madrid, working as a “luxury companion.”
The suspect was ultimately arrested for the crime of illegal immigration and was made an official suspect, having been placed under Identity and Residence Terms.
After appearing in an initial judicial hearing and the application of the appropriate coercive measures, it was decided she would be placed in a Temporary Installation Center.
