A 27-year-old man has been detained by the Judiciary Police (PJ) during an operation in Lisbon, facing strong charges of drug trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Investigations, which took place in a local accommodation where the suspect resided, led to the seizure of a loaded small-caliber firearm, various types of drugs already portioned and prepared for sale, and a significant amount of cash consistent with trafficking activities, according to a statement from the PJ released on Thursday.
The investigation discovered that the suspect used different accommodations in rotation to hinder police surveillance.
The detainee, who has an extensive criminal record for drug trafficking, was serving a suspended sentence for this crime and has previously served a custodial sentence, the same statement from the Judiciary Police noted.
He will appear for a preliminary judicial interrogation to determine the application of preventive measures.
