
The official page of Civil Protection reports the occurrence of 14 fallen trees, 13 structural collapses, and damage to five water supply networks.
The most affected municipality was Funchal, which recorded 23 incidents. It was followed by Câmara de Lobos with five, Santa Cruz with three, and Machico with one.
“We reiterate the recommendations shared on Friday via social media concerning the strong winds and the guidelines issued by the National Maritime Authority regarding the sea state,” reads the announcement from the regional organization.
The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued a yellow weather warning for all regions of Madeira, including Porto Santo Island, due to strong winds. This warning is effective until 6:00 PM today.
The yellow warning, the least severe on a three-tier scale, is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk to certain activities dependent on weather conditions.
