The Liberal Initiative abstained, while Juntos pelo Povo, the Socialist Party, and Chega voted against the document, which was discussed from Tuesday until today, featuring sectoral debates pertaining to the eight secretariats that comprise the executive led by the Social Democrat Miguel Albuquerque.
The Program of the 16th Regional Government of Madeira (PSD/CDS-PP), stemming from the snap elections on March 23, is voted on in the form of a motion of confidence in the executive, as stipulated in the Political-Administrative Statute and the Rules of Procedure of the Legislative Assembly of the autonomous region.
The program, consisting of 188 pages, outlines the general objectives of the executive in nine chapters, highlighting housing and the gradual reduction of taxes as some of the “major priorities.”
The PSD/CDS-PP coalition executive holds an absolute majority in the regional parliament, with 23 Social Democrat deputies and one Christian Democrat.
The Madeira parliament also includes 11 deputies from JPP, eight from the Socialist Party, three from Chega, and one from the Liberal Initiative.
