“The missing Polish citizen, aged 31, was found deceased in the riverbed of Ribeira Grande, municipality of Santana [north of the island]”, a source informed the Lusa agency.
The same source stated that the Polish man was found “by a Madeiran guide accompanying a private search team”.
“Currently, the PSP, along with the Santana firefighters, are on-site to retrieve the body”, the source added.
The man was reported missing on Monday in the mountains of Madeira, and the PSP suspended the search two days later, noting that the necessary investigations were “exhausted on existing pedestrian paths within the area of cellular triangulation”.

Levada dos Tornos is the longest in the autonomous region, exceeding 100 kilometers, and traverses several municipalities.
