Magusto does not come alone: A “very rainy” week is expected (with thunderstorms)

Projections by the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) for the coming week, from November 10 to 16, suggest a continuation of volatile weather conditions similar to recent patterns, with anticipated instability, rainfall, and thunderstorms.

Weather specialists detail on Facebook that “from November 10 to 16, weather conditions will be influenced by the positioning of a complex depression with secondary cores near the main core, centered northwest of the Iberian Peninsula and moving slowly.”

The IPMA states, “as a result of this positioning, a frontal system followed by instability lines generated by the depression is expected to reach mainland territory, predicting a rainy to very rainy week with favorable conditions for thunderstorms.”

The forecast for the specified period also indicates a “very high positive anomaly in average precipitation, particularly in the North and Center regions, with weekly accumulations ranging from +60 mm to +75 mm compared to the usual amounts for this time of year.”

The IPMA study further highlights that mainland territories will experience values significantly above average for this period, although there is considerable uncertainty concerning the cumulative values throughout the week.

Temperature-wise, levels are expected to be “close to typical values for this season but above average, particularly in the more inland areas.”

Maximum temperatures are projected to range between 10°C and 20°C in the interior North and Center regions, with highs between 15°C and 21°C in the South and coastal areas.

“As for minimum temperatures in mainland territory, they are expected to range from 2°C to 12°C in the interior North and Center regions, from 8°C to 14°C in the South, and from 9°C to 17°C in coastal areas,” the note specifies.
