Maia City Council invites the population to participate in Social Diagnosis.

In a statement to Lusa, Emília Santos, the vice president of the Municipality of Maia in the district of Porto, revealed that the diagnosis will serve as a foundation for the development of two strategic documents: the Social Charter and the Social Development Plan.

“Engaging the population to look at themselves, to identify issues, to pinpoint areas that require more attention, and giving them the opportunity to suggest measures is a way to involve and also hold them accountable for identifying problems so they can, with even more legitimacy, question the potential lack of responses,” Emília Santos emphasized.

She further stated that “instead of just working for the people, it is essential to work with them, and this initiative, which remains rare, is an excellent example of how the population and local leaders can, and should, work together, with the pillars of valuing, caring, and achieving.”

The municipality anticipates that the two strategic documents will be finalized by the end of this year.

Participation is open to all residents of Maia, who can access an anonymous questionnaire available on the municipality’s website (www.cm-maia.pt) without the need for registration, until Friday.

The questionnaire covers topics such as accessibility and mobility, security, and housing, with the executive highlighting that “the collected data will be exclusively used for the purposes of analysis and the preparation of the Social Diagnosis.”
