All districts of mainland Portugal and the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores will be at very high risk of exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation today and Tuesday, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
Accordingto IPMA, mainland Portugal and the archipelago of Madeira will be today and Tuesday with very high levels.
In the Azores, IPMA predicts for today very high levels for all islands, except Flores which is with moderate levels.
On Tuesday, all islands of the Azores archipelago are at very high risk of exposure to UV radiation.
The ultraviolet radiation scale has five levels, between extreme and low risk.
For regions at extreme risk, IPMA recommends avoiding sun exposure as much as possible.
Regarding regions with very high risk, IPMA advises the use of sunglasses with UV filter, hat, ‘t-shirt’, umbrella, sunscreen and to avoid exposing children to the sun.
