
By 5:30 PM, the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) highlighted significant ongoing incidents, including fires in Alvite/Moimenta da Beira and Freches/Trancoso.
The first fire, which began early Friday afternoon, mobilized 400 personnel, with 124 vehicles and nine aerial resources, according to updated figures on ANEPC’s website at 7:15 PM.
The Freches/Trancoso/Beiras e Serra da Estrela fire, which erupted this afternoon, was being combated by 246 personnel, 70 vehicles, and eight aerial resources shortly after 7:00 PM, as per ANEPC’s data.
ANEPC reminded that the entire mainland Portugal is under an Alert Status until 11:59 PM on August 13.
During this period, exceptional measures are in effect, including the prohibition of access to forest areas defined in municipal plans, bans on agricultural burnings and bonfires (including previously authorized ones), and the prohibition of machinery work in forest and rural spaces.
Fireworks are also prohibited, regardless of licensing.
