A 53-year-old man has been arrested by the Polícia Judiciária in Marco de Canaveses, in the Porto district, on suspicion of sexually abusing his 14-year-old stepdaughter.
According to a statement issued by the authorities, the “crimes of sexual abuse of dependent minors, committed in the months of August and September,” came to the attention of the PJ following a report from the psychologist accompanying the minor.
The PJ initiated an investigation immediately after this alert. The authorities stated that “evidence-gathering efforts were conducted, allowing for the contextualization of the sexual abuse acts committed against the minor, which culminated in the stepfather’s arrest.”
The suspect has since appeared before the Criminal Investigation Court of Lousada, where he has been subject to measures including “removal from the family home and prohibition of contact with both the victim and her mother, the suspect’s wife.”
