A man was arrested in Valongo for the sexual abuse of two minors, the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) announced this Friday, November 21, in a statement.
Investigators stated that the crimes occurred on the night of June 23 during a family gathering at the victims’ home. The victims are the daughters of the suspect’s brother’s girlfriend.
According to the PJ, after dinner, the suspect went to the room of one of the girls, aged 11, who was alone, “coercing her with sexual advances, undressing, and touching the victim’s intimate areas.”
Following the girl’s reaction, who “rejected the advances,” he left the room and then moved to the room of the other minor, who was with other young friends, continuing with the “same behaviors that violate the sexual freedom of the victims.”
The following day, the first victim managed to inform her close family members of what had happened. The complaint was filed with the Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR), which subsequently engaged the PJ.
Given that the victims and the aggressor were neighbors, the PJ recommended the Public Prosecutor issue “arrest warrants to apply measures preventing the risk of repeating these behaviors,” thereby protecting the victims from the aggressor.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday, November 20. After being presented for the initial judicial interrogation, he was prohibited from contacting the victims in any form, barred from approaching them, and required to change his residence within 24 hours due to the proximity of the victims’ residence. He must also report to the nearest police station weekly.
