A 32-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were arrested in Algueirão, Sintra, on suspicion of drug trafficking, the Public Security Police (PSP) reported on Monday.
In a statement, the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP explained that the arrest occurred last Thursday, September 18, during a routine patrol by officers.
The police observed a possible drug transaction between two individuals, prompting them to approach the suspects. During the approach, they found that a man was in possession of narcotics supplied moments earlier by the 40-year-old suspect, who acted as the seller.
Faced with the drug trafficking offense, the PSP conducted a home search of the suspect’s residence, discovering “a woman entering and exiting the suspect’s residence carrying a shoulder bag,” whom they decided to question.
The woman displayed signs of nervousness, prompting a search of her bag, in which officers discovered and seized 65.55 individual doses of cocaine and 44.90 individual doses of hashish.
During the home search, 80 euros in cash, a wooden board with hashish residues, four knives with hashish residues, rolls of plastic wrap for packaging hashish, packing bags, a machete, and a notebook with notes related to the illicit activity were seized.
The detainees were taken to detention rooms to await their first judicial interrogation for the application of appropriate coercive measures.
