A man died early Sunday morning after being shot in Póvoa de Varzim, police confirmed to Notícias ao Minuto.
The incident involved the use of a firearm, and the case is currently under investigation by the Judicial Police (PJ). No arrests have been made at this time.
The Porto Regional Command of Civil Protection informed the site that the alert was received at 5:13 AM on Dr. Artur Aires Street.
A police source told Lusa that the victim is a man around 30 years old and that the crime took place near Póvoa Arena, a venue that formerly served as the local bullring.
The deceased was confirmed to be a foreign resident in Portugal, approximately 30 years old.
The death was declared at the scene, where the Póvoa de Varzim Firefighters, the Immediate Life Support Ambulance (SIV) from Vila do Conde, the Medium Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) from Pedro Hispano Hospital, and the Public Security Police (PSP) were present.
