A man armed with a gun entered a bank on Av. dos Bombeiros Voluntários, in Oeiras, Lisbon district, and stole around 30,000 euros, after which he was arrested by the PSP.
Speaking to Lusa, the commander of the Miraflores PSP station, Beatriz Carneiro, said that the authorities had received an alert, via 112, at around 9.30am that “a suspect was in a bank and had carried out a robbery”.
“The Miraflores patrol car immediately left for the scene and when the officers arrived they arrested the 39-year-old man in possession of the money, around 30,000 euros, and the alarm weapon [a replica firearm],” added Beatriz Carneiro.
According to the commander, the suspect threatened the bank employees and, when he left the bank, he was initially intercepted by people.
The authorities are still on the scene investigating the events, he added.
