A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a prohibited weapon after allegedly trying to kill his cousin during a family dispute in Charneca da Caparica, Almada.
In a statement released to the press on Thursday, the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) reported that the incident occurred on the night of October 1.
The alert to the PJ was raised by the Charneca da Caparica division of the Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR), who reported being “called to a residence” following a dispute among residents, who are relatives by relation. One individual allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times, resulting in the victim being transported to a hospital.
During the investigation carried out by the PJ, the weapon used in the crime was seized.
The detained individual, previously convicted and served a prison sentence for domestic violence, will be brought before a court for the imposition of coercive measures.
