A 44-year-old man has been arrested by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) in Ovar on strong suspicion of committing aggravated robbery on August 7, in the walkways of Vila Nova de Gaia.
In a statement released on Thursday, the PJ reported that the suspect approached two victims using a firearm, stealing items valued at several hundred euros.
After the crime, the suspect fled the scene.
Investigative procedures led to the seizure and collection of significant evidence that resulted in the identification and location of the suspect, strongly indicating involvement in the aforementioned crime and the possession of a prohibited weapon.
The arrested individual has no criminal record and will be brought before the competent judicial authority for questioning and the imposition of preventive measures.
