The GNR has clarified in a statement that a 50-year-old suspect was detained on Wednesday, following a domestic violence complaint.
Authorities determined that the suspect “threatened and committed physical, psychological, and verbal violence against the victim, his 44-year-old partner, even threatening her with a firearm.”
“Following the investigation, police operations executed a detention warrant and a home search warrant, resulting in the arrest of the aggressor and the seizure of a firearm (shotgun),” the statement continued.
The GNR also reported that the detainee was brought before the Judicial Court of Santa Maria da Feira, where measures of restraint were applied, including distancing from the victim and thrice-weekly appearances at the police station near his residence.
