A 48-year-old man was arrested by the Judicial Police (PJ) on Tuesday, November 4, under strong suspicion of committing crimes including unauthorized access, computer forgery, unlawful reproduction of protected software, and money laundering. He allegedly gained illegal profits exceeding 700,000 euros.
The PJ stated that the investigation began in 2023 when it was discovered that since at least 2018, the suspect had been unauthorizedly accessing the computer system of a Germany-based company, misappropriating software developed and marketed by the company for use in medical equipment production.
The suspect is also accused of obtaining and digitally manipulating software updates, subsequently reproducing, modifying, and selling them to various domestic and international clinics.
The PJ seized various IT equipment, banking documents, cash, and considerable sums in bank accounts linked to the alleged criminal activities.
The detained individual is scheduled for an initial judicial interrogation to determine the preventive measures.
