A 26-year-old man was arrested for illegal possession of a weapon by the National Republican Guard (GNR) last Wednesday in Vendas Novas.
In connection with an investigation into physical assaults involving a blade weapon that occurred in January of this year, GNR officers conducted police operations that led to the identification and location of the suspect, according to a statement provided to the press.
The GNR stated that “a security check and search were conducted on the individual,” and it was established that he was “in possession of a firearm” that was “concealed in his clothing” and “for which he did not have a license to carry,” which prompted his arrest.
A pistol and three rounds of ammunition were seized.
The detainee was named a defendant, and the case was referred to the Judicial Court of Montemor-o-Novo.
