
A 50-year-old man was arrested on the morning of May 4th on suspicion of possessing a prohibited weapon in the Misericórdia district of Lisbon.
The individual was found with a steel kitchen knife, measuring 26.5 centimeters in total, which had “moments earlier been used to threaten and intimidate passersby using public transportation”, as stated in a communiqué released by the Public Security Police (PSP) on Friday.
Consequently, the suspect was detained and instructed to appear at the Local Criminal Court – Small Criminality Section in Lisbon.
This operation was conducted by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP, through the Public Transport Security Division, which emphasized maintaining “continuous and strict surveillance on the Lisbon public railway and metro networks to ensure the safety and peace of passengers and their belongings.”
