The Republican National Guard (GNR) arrested a 55-year-old man on Tuesday for possession of prohibited ammunition in the context of domestic violence in the municipality of Alijó, Vila Real district.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, the arrest was made as part of an investigation into a domestic violence crime, where GNR officers executed an arrest warrant and a home search warrant.
Authorities seized five hunting weapons and 29 rounds of prohibited 32 mm caliber ammunition.
The detainee appeared before the Alijó Judicial Court, where he was ordered to stay away from the victim and was placed under electronic bracelet monitoring.
The GNR also warns that domestic violence is a public crime, and reporting such situations is a “collective responsibility.”
