The investigation by the PJ began in 2024, initiated by “information received through an international cooperation mechanism,” revealing that “the now-detained individual shared pornographic files involving a minor via the internet.”
“The forensic analysis of the shared images allowed for the identification of the victim, a 15-year-old adolescent, and the suspect, who produced and shared the videos of the sexual activities conducted with the minor,” stated the PJ in a statement.
The PJ further reported that a search of the suspect’s residence, conducted on the island of São Miguel, uncovered computer equipment containing thousands of videos depicting children under the age of 14 engaged in pornographic activities with adults.
The detainee will be brought before judicial authorities for the application of preventive measures.
