A 44-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Friday in Arcos de Valdevez, in the district of Viana do Castelo, on suspicion of committing 10 counts of sexual abuse against two children, currently aged 11.
A statement from the police reveals that “due to the seriousness of the case,” the man was apprehended just hours after authorities received the report.
The investigators indicate that, according to their findings, the accused began sexually abusing the two children, who are family members, four years ago.
The man is now scheduled to appear for an initial judicial hearing.
