
A 26-year-old man was arrested after the National Republican Guard (GNR) in the city of Braga dismantled a criminal network involved in the commission of qualified fraud and money laundering crimes.
The GNR states that during the operation, “two home searches were conducted in the municipalities of Gondomar and Braga, which led to the seizure of two devices with 128 slots intended for mass communications,” used in schemes such as “Hello Dad, Hello Mom” fraud as well as other crimes committed through the Telegram platform.
According to the GNR, “the devices were in full operation at the time of the police intervention.”
The authorities seized 15,111 SIM cards from a national operator, 20 bank cards, 19 pen drives, ten computers, five mobile phones, and five hard drives.
The GNR also confirmed that approximately ten cryptocurrency wallets, used for moving funds derived from the criminal activities, were identified.
The detainee has already appeared before the Judicial Court of Portimão and was subjected to the measure of weekly periodic presentations at the police station in his area of residence.
