The National Republican Guard (GNR) has arrested a 68-year-old man in the municipality of Mirandela for illegal possession of firearms, following an investigation into threats made against military personnel of the Guard, it was announced today.
The police operations had been ongoing for approximately two months in the district of Bragança and concluded on Wednesday with searches conducted in a residence and a vehicle.
The authorities confiscated two pistols, a shotgun, and more than 60 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, including buckshot and percussion caps.
The man has been named as a defendant, and the case has been referred to the local court.
