A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder a 35-year-old man in Albufeira, Algarve, on the morning of Tuesday, October 7.
In a statement, the Judicial Police revealed the crime took place in a public area, specifically a parking lot providing access to a beach located in the parish of Olhos de Água.
The victim was attacked with a piercing object, causing injuries that posed a serious threat to life. The police indicated that the intervention of bystanders and a swift emergency response were crucial in saving the victim.
The investigation found that the aggressor used “gratuitous violence” against the victim for “seemingly trivial reasons.”
The detained individual will now face the judicial authorities for an initial interrogation and the determination of appropriate precautionary measures.
The inquiry is being led by the Investigation and Penal Action Department (DIAP) of Albufeira.
