A man shot his brother-in-law following an argument and subsequently barricaded himself in his home in Barreiro, Setúbal district, as confirmed by a source from the Public Security Police (PSP).
Witnesses stated that the suspect fired approximately eight shots, with four hitting the victim—three in the lower back and one in the buttock.
The victim was transported to Barreiro Hospital, and the severity of the injuries remains unknown at this time.
The alert was raised around 1:30 PM on a street in Barreiro Velho, near the new PSP station in Barreiro. As of 3:50 PM, the suspect was still barricaded inside the house. A PSP operation is ongoing at the scene.
No hostages have been taken, although the man may be accompanied by family members.
The exact origin of the incident has not been confirmed; however, it appears the shooting followed a dispute between in-laws. The altercation reportedly began after the victim threatened to report the suspect for allegedly operating a warehouse with counterfeit goods.
Following these threats, the suspect allegedly retrieved a weapon and shot his brother-in-law.
