
A 63-year-old man was “brutally” assaulted, according to the Public Security Police (PSP), by three young individuals aged between 17 and 19, on the night of last Thursday, September 4, in Beja City’s Park.
In a statement sent today, the authorities reported that the attack took place at around 23:30.
Following an alert received via 112 at that time, a police intervention was initiated in the vicinity of the location.
The victim, who was transported to José Joaquim Fernandes Hospital with “serious injuries and a guarded prognosis,” stated that he was “brutally assaulted by three unknown young men.”
The suspects, aged between 17 and 19, “were intercepted nearby and admitted to the assault, claiming it was provoked by an argument over a cigarette.”
Given the gathered evidence, the PSP further stated that they were arrested, charged as suspects, and notified to appear before the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) of Beja.
