A man aged 35 was arrested by the Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) on June 11 for starting a forest fire in the municipality of Fronteira.
“Following an alert reporting a forest fire in the locality of Vale de Maceiras, the officers immediately proceeded to the location, where they conducted police investigations that enabled them to catch the suspect in the act, in possession of a lighter, while setting fire to the vegetation,” stated a security force communiqué released this Tuesday.
The operation resulted “in his arrest in the act.”
The detainee appeared before the Judicial Court of Fronteira, where he was placed in preventive custody.
