A 54-year-old man was arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP) on August 29 at 19:25 in Matosinhos on suspicion of residential burglary.
“The owner of the residence was alerted by a neighbor who saw the suspect entering the property by climbing a courtyard and subsequently breaking a window,” the PSP detailed in a statement sent to newsrooms on Monday.
Subsequently, the owner arrived at the scene with a relative and caught “the suspect exiting through the window and attempting to flee,” successfully intercepting and detaining him until the arrival of the PSP.
Upon the officers’ arrival, a search of the suspect revealed “items stolen from the residence’s interior and belongings of the owner,” including a tablet and various jewelry and bijouterie valued at approximately 300 euros.
The detainee has been notified to appear before the Judicial Authorities, and the case is now under investigation.
