
A statement from the GNR revealed that a suspect was arrested in flagrante delicto on Saturday in response to a report of domestic violence.
According to the statement, the military police immediately traveled to the scene, where they conducted investigations that determined the suspect had committed physical, psychological, and verbal violence against the victim, his 65-year-old companion.
“It was further established that the aggressor threatened the victim using two bladed weapons, specifically a machete and a knife,” the statement noted, adding that the weapons were seized.
The GNR also reported that the detainee was brought before the Santa Maria da Feira Judicial Court, where he was subjected to the measure of twice-weekly check-ins at the police station in his area of residence.
The suspect was also ordered to leave the family residence, is prohibited from contacting the victim by any means or approaching her, and must undergo a medical evaluation for potential alcohol dependency and, if necessary, comply with medical prescriptions.
