A 37-year-old man has been arrested by the Judiciary Police (PJ) on strong suspicion of being responsible for at least four vehicle fires and an urban fire in the municipality of Penafiel.
The PJ stated in a press release that the incidents occurred “between July 14 and September 29,” and the fires were allegedly set using an open flame, within a context of imbalance, as the suspect provided “no motivation or justification for his actions.”
“At least seven vehicles were destroyed and several others were damaged, along with a car repair shop,” the statement reads.
The detainee will be presented to the competent judicial authority for the first interrogation and the determination of preventive measures.
