A man residing with his partner and their three minor children since May, when they rekindled an old romantic relationship, has been indicted on multiple charges, according to a statement released by the Évora Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The Public Ministry alleges that inside the shared home, where the children were also present, the man physically assaulted and intimidated the victim and two GNR military officers who responded to the incident in November.
The suspect appeared for a preliminary judicial interrogation, and the criminal instruction judge determined there is strong evidence of qualified physical assault offenses, targeting his then-partner and two military officers.
The individual was released under the condition of identity verification and residence requirement. Additional measures prohibit him from contacting the victim by any means, except through a third party for matters concerning their common children.
The man is also barred from approaching within 500 meters of the victim or frequenting areas near her residence and workplace. Compliance with these measures will be monitored via remote technical means.
The Public Ministry noted that the accused has a criminal record involving domestic violence and aggravated threats.
The investigation will continue under the GNR of Portalegre and the oversight of the Ponte de Sor Public Ministry.
