
Authorities in Setúbal Peninsula have reported a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred early this morning. The alert came to officials at 5:14 AM, prompting an emergency response.
A medical emergency and resuscitation vehicle (VMER) from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) based at Hospital de S. Francisco Xavier in Lisbon was dispatched to the scene. The attending physician confirmed the pedestrian’s death, according to an official source.
The incident, which took place in Trafaria, resulted in the death of a man aged between 40 and 50 years. The victim was struck by a light passenger vehicle, as confirmed by the Setúbal Territorial Command.
The victim’s body has been transported to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Lisbon for further examination.
The Setúbal National Republican Guard’s (GNR) Criminal Investigation Unit for Traffic Accidents (NICAV) is conducting an investigation into the accident.
The emergency operations included the involvement of 15 personnel supported by seven vehicles, comprising Trafaria Volunteer Firefighters, GNR, INEM, and Brisa.
