A road accident involving a light goods vehicle resulted in one person being trapped inside and later confirmed deceased, according to a spokesperson from the Douro Sub-regional Command of Civil Protection. The victim was a 60-year-old man.
The incident was reported at 11:05 AM in the locality of Fornelos, in the parish of Fontes, within the municipality of Santa Marta de Penaguião, district of Vila Real.
A total of 16 personnel were deployed to the scene, supported by five vehicles from the Fontes Volunteer Firefighters, the National Republican Guard (GNR), the Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER), and an air unit from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
