A man died and another was injured following a crash on the National Road (EN) 305 in the Alvarães area, within the municipality of Viana do Castelo, confirmed the Civil Protection Emergency Command of Alto Minho.
Following the crash, the vehicle collided with a pole, and the injured individual was transported to the ULSAM – Local Health Unit of Alto Minho with minor injuries.
A source from the Viana do Castelo Fire Department stated that the deceased victim was a man approximately 40 years old.
The EN 305 was closed to traffic in both directions to allow the National Republican Guard (GNR) to investigate the accident.
The alert was issued at 3:45 PM.
On site were the GNR, Viana do Castelo Fire Department, Viana do Castelo Volunteer Firefighters, Barcelos Volunteer Firefighters, and the Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER).
