
A man died on Monday after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest at Titan Beach in Matosinhos. The victim was found unconscious at sea by a couple.
The emergency services of the Northern Regional Delegation were alerted at 12:25 p.m. about a man in his 50s in cardiorespiratory arrest.
According to Rui Silva Lampreia, commander of the Douro Port Captaincy, a couple of bathers found the man “face down in the sea” and attempted resuscitation maneuvers with the beach lifeguards, but the victim was already in cardiorespiratory arrest.
On-site, the Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) personnel from Hospital Pedro Hispano continued with the resuscitation maneuvers, and the death was later declared.
The incident also mobilized Leixões firefighters, a police motorcycle from Porto firefighters, the Maritime Police, and the Public Security Police (PSP).
The Maritime Police took responsibility for the occurrence.
