A man was found unconscious on Sunday following an alleged incident of animal abuse involving a sheep on a property in Vila Real. The situation was reported to the authorities around 10:30 PM by the owner of the barn where the incident occurred.
The local Police of Public Security (PSP) confirmed the circumstances, noting that the animal was discovered deceased and “bloodied in the genital area.” The man was similarly found with “blood around his waist” and an “unzipped fly.” The PSP stated that all “evidence” suggests the 45-year-old man had violated the sheep, which was located “about a meter” from the unresponsive suspect.
When asked about any potential criminal record of a similar nature for the individual, authorities confirmed that there was none.
Medical assistance was provided on the scene by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), but the man declined hospital transport after receiving immediate care.
The PSP further noted that they have not received any recent reports of livestock facility invasions, and an inquiry has been launched into the incident.
