The GNR has reported the detention of a suspect by the Portalegre Territorial Command’s Specialized Victim Support and Investigation Unit (NIAVE) last Wednesday.
The security forces, involved in an ongoing domestic violence investigation, stated that military personnel gathered evidence that the suspect was inflicting physical and psychological violence upon the victim.
During the police operation on Wednesday, alongside the arrest, the GNR seized various items including an alarm pistol, two air guns, both an expandable and a rubber baton measuring 55 centimeters, 37 blank cartridges, 175 rubber spheres, multiple CO2 canisters, a laser accessory for firearms, and a canister of pepper spray.
The detained individual appeared before the Judicial Court of Elvas and was released with the condition of not approaching the victim within 300 meters, a restriction monitored by an electronic bracelet.
The suspect is also prohibited from contacting the victim by any means and must not possess, acquire, or use any kind of weapon, with an obligation to immediately surrender any weapons owned.
The operation was supported by military officers from the Campo Maior Territorial Post.
