In a statement, the Beja Territorial Command of the GNR reported that the suspect was arrested on July 29 by officers from the Specific Victims Support and Investigation Unit (NIAVE) during an investigation into domestic violence.
According to the GNR, NIAVE officers “conducted police inquiries which determined that the suspect engaged in physical, verbal, and sexual violence against the victim,” who is his 32-year-old partner.
During the operation, an arrest warrant was executed, noted the security force.
The man was brought before the Odemira Judicial Court, where he was remanded in custody, the most severe preventive measure.
