A source from the GNR Territorial Command in Viseu informed that the suspect, who has a criminal record for aggravated theft and domestic violence, is believed to have committed at least 11 crimes: two simple thefts, eight aggravated thefts from the interior of vehicles, and one crime of card (bank) misuse.
Thefts are said to have all occurred in the municipality of Tondela, in the district of Viseu, with the man stealing all valuable items found inside the vehicles.
In a statement released today, the GNR reported that the arrest by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Santa Comba Dão took place following three months of investigation.
On Wednesday, the “military officers conducted police procedures that resulted in the execution of a detention warrant and a house search warrant, leading to the suspect’s arrest.”
After appearing before the Judicial Court of Viseu, a preventive detention order was applied as a coercive measure.
