The suspect was arrested by the Investigation and Support Center for Specific Victims (NIAVE) on Friday, as part of an ongoing domestic violence investigation over the past two weeks, according to a statement from the GNR Territorial Command of Leiria.
The officers found that the aggressor inflicted physical and psychological violence and made threats against the victim, his former 52-year-old partner.
The operation culminated in the execution of an arrest warrant.
The detainee was brought before the Leiria Judicial Court and was remanded in custody.
